How every checklist is built

Each checklist begins with the published safety standards relevant to that product — AAP safe sleep guidelines, CPSC regulatory minimums, and independent certification requirements. These are reviewed before any product enters the evaluation process. Amazon product listings are referenced only for dimensions; they are never used as a source for certification or safety claims.

Certifications like GREENGUARD Gold and OEKO-TEX are issued at the time of manufacturing — to a specific batch, from a specific facility. The certification on a product listing does not guarantee the unit in your hands is the same one that was tested. Grey market imports, counterfeits, and batch variations all exist in the baby gear market.

Most parents never verify.

Certification databases are public and free to search. Yet the step of checking whether your specific product appears in the issuing body's database is almost never mentioned in any buying guide.
